REMOVAL OF ARSENIC FROM DRINKING WATER SUPPLIES BY IRON REMOVAL ...

This design manual is an in-depth presentation of the steps required to design and operate a water treatment plant for removal of arsenic in the As (V) form from drinking water using an iron removal process. The manual also discusses the capital and operating costs including many of the variables that can raise or lower costs for the treatment systems.

Living sensor can warn of arsenic pollution

(Society for General Microbiology) Scientists studying arsenic pollution have discovered a living sensor that can spot contamination. They have also discovered new bacteria that can clean up arsenic spills even in previously untreatable cold areas, microbiologists heard today (Monday Sept. 8, 2008) at the Society for General Microbiology's Autumn meeting being held this week at Trinity College, Dublin.

Arsenic-based Therapy Shown To Help Eradicate Leukemia-initiatin...

In a paradoxical discovery, scientists have found that a tumor suppressor protein known as PML appears to be the factor that enables leukemia initiating cells to maintain their quiescence -- the inert state that protects them from being destroyed by cancer therapies.

How Arsenic Can Cure One Type Of Leukemia

Arsenic is a remarkably effective treatment against a rare form of leukemia. Researchers have shown how arsenic cures one type of leukemia. This research should lead to a better understanding of the therapy, and thus to medical strategies which are better adapted to this disease.

Arsenic aids tumor imaging when joined to cancer-homing drug, UT...

Arsenic linked to a drug that binds to the blood vessels of cancerous tumors provides a powerful imaging agent that could one day allow physicians to detect hard-to-find tumors and more closely monitor cancer's response to therapy, researchers at UT Southwestern Medical Center have found.
