Gene flow dynamics and fitness of stacked transgenic Brassica na...

To date, studies examining transgenic crops have failed to demonstrate that transgene escape to wild relatives results in more competitive hybrids or contributes to ecological change.

However, it is important to consider transgene escape in the context of the types of traits that will likely provide fitness benefits for recipient weedy species, and also the types of environmental selections that are likely outside of cultivation.

Using a constructed plant community, we examine the potential ecological effects of transgene escape from transgenic Brassica napus (canola) to feral B.
