1,2-Dichloroethylene (1,2-DCE) is a solvent which was historically used not only in industrial applications, but also in consumer products: perfumes, dyes, resins, waxes, lacquers and in the preparation of decaffeinated coffee.
Today, 1,2-DCE is primarily used in the production of other chlorinated solvents. 1,2-DCE is also produced as a byproduct of various industrial activities.
There are two forms of 1,2-DCE, cis-1, 2-DCE and trans-1, 2-DCE, based on the position of the two chlorine atoms.
