Geothermal energy boom? U.S. to open lands

 The Interior Department said Wednesday it will make nearly 200 million acres of land available for the development of geothermal energy, which already provides most of Iceland's energy needs.<br /><br />NBC's Robert Bazell reports. (Nightly News)The Interior Department plans to open 190 million acres of federal land for geothermal energy projects — a move that could produce enough clean electricity for 5 million homes.
