This report summarizes the results of a field demonstration conducted under the SITE program. The technology that was demonstrated was a metal-enhanced dechlorination process developed by EnviroMetal Technologies, Inc. to treat groundwater contaminated with chlorinated volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
The technology employs an electrochemical process that involves the oxidation of a reactive, granular iron medium to induce reductive dechlorination of chlorinated VOCs.
